Portrait - Kassel Catolik Kurche, Germany 2010
Portrait returns to the artist's roots and looks at her family in Gabon. An anthropological discovery where a projection of her own grandmother shows a connection between the beginning of time, religion, ancestry and human connectivity with the 'beyond'. The artist stands in front of the church alter during a sunday mess and her head is covered in a white sheet that has the projection of her grandmother. She communicates with and through her with the audience and shares a powerful intimate link. With powerful gentle Fang chanting during the appearance of her grandmother, as the face fades away, the artist presses her hands against her eyes which start to bleed red through the cloth. She takes it off and talks to the audience. The rest of the sermon ceremony continues with a collaboration with singer Magre Eric Emmanuel and enabling the projection of the woman during the communion.
